Senior meetings

Meetings are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month.  However, due to Covid-19, meetings will not be taking place until further notice.  The agenda includes the following: Opening/Formalities; Members (new, sick, deceased); Secretary/Treasurer report; Committee report; Old/New business; Humor; Hospitality coffee and snacks.

Current activities

Current activities include line dancing, bowling, Wii, creative writing, yoga, cards, crafts, billiards and fun.  Activities are highlighted in the newsletter.

Billiards, otherwise known as the Pool Room:  The room has two pool tables and is open weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm when the Town Hall is open.  Happily, instructions are provided for everyone.  The room is filled with eager learners and you can enjoy a cup of coffee and maybe some popcorn.

Items of Interest

  • Senior Nutrition Services serves daily meals for seniors at noontime at Clare Hall at the Green Manor.  Any senior may go there for their noon meal providing you sign up in advance.  Meals are served Monday through Friday.
  • Senior Mini-Bus Services are provided for local trips three times per week.  The service runs from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday at no charge.  Door to door service is offered.  Please call 860-483-2579 24-hours in advance to arrange transportation and confirm availability.  For more information, contact the First Selectman's Office at 860-283-4421.
  • Other transportation services are provided through NE Transportation.  Call 860-283-0756 for more information.
  • Social Services Office refers seniors in need to appropriate programs.  Office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 4 pm.  The office is located on the 4th level of Town Hall.  Call 860-283-0756 for more information.
  • Various day and overnight trips are offered.
