TOWN OF THOMASTON
WARNING OF ANNUAL BUDGET MEETING
THURSDAY, MAY 18, 2023, 7:00 P.M.
AND REFERENDUM VOTE
WEDNESDAY, MAY 31, 2023 - 6:00 A.M. TO 8:00 P.M.
The electors and those persons eligible to vote in town meetings of the Town of Thomaston, Connecticut, are hereby warned and notified that the Annual Budget Meeting will be held in the Lena Morton Art Gallery/Town Hall, 158 Main Street, Thomaston, Connecticut, on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 7:00 P.M. for the following purpose:
ITEM 1. To hear the report of the Board of Finance, and to act upon the municipal budget as recommended by the Board of Finance, and to appropriate the sum of $29,517,507 to defray the expenses of the Town and the Board of Education in accordance with said budget for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2023.
ITEM 2. To appropriate $23,245.97 to complete the refurbishment of the 1999 Peterbuilt tanker fire truck pursuant to the information provided by the Fire Department to be funded through the undesignated fund balance.
Copies of the full text of the Budget and Resolution are on file and available for inspection at the Office of the Town Clerk.
The Moderator shall adjourn the Annual Budget Meeting at its conclusion and the above Budget Resolution shall be submitted to a referendum vote by paper ballots of Town electors and qualified voters for approval or disapproval on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 between the hours of 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M at the Crescent Gallery adjacent to the Town Hall at 158 Main Street, Thomaston, Connecticut. The Resolution shall be placed upon the paper ballots under the following headings:
QUESTION 1. “SHALL THE TOWN OF THOMASTON BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1, 2023 IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $29,517,507 BE APPROVED?”
Voters approving the Resolution will vote “Yes” and those opposing the Resolution will vote “No”.
Absentee ballots will be available from the Town Clerk’s office.
