The Social Service office assists elderly as well as younger families with housing, food, state and federal programs, budgeting and overall well-being of residents in Thomaston.  The Social Service office is a wealth of information and hands-on assistance.  In addition to the Social Service Director, we also have a Municipal Agent for the Elderly that disseminates information to the elderly and assists in learning about the community resources available to them, assists in applying for federal and other benefits available, etc.  Our Municipal Agent is Mary Ann Martin and you can leave a message for her by calling (860) 283-4421 (First Selectman's Office) or emailing dbournival@thomastonct.org.  

Elderly Nutrition

Meals on Wheels Program The Town supports funding of Senior Nutrition Services, which provides meals for senior residents.  To sign up for Meals on Wheels, please call Western CT. Area Agency on Aging at (203) 757-5449.

Elderly Health Screening Service

The Town supports annual funding to Elderly Health Screening Service, which provides health screenings to people age 60+, which includes health history, height, weight, pulse, blood pressure, urinalysis, blood tests, electrocardiogram, vision test, prostate exam, pap test and breast exam. Their staff also offers health education, counseling, referrals and follow-ups based on each individual's need.

They offer this affordable and accessible test package for a suggested donation of $25 or $35 with Pap testing. The market value for this test package is over $380.
